Firefighter family owned & operated

Red Engine Brewing Company is a brewery and taproom based in Fillmore, California - a bedroom suburban community located in VENTURA County.

Why the name Red Engine Brewing Company? Perhaps the most obvious reason is owner, founder and resident firefighter Preston Andreini. Preston started his career with the fire service in Montgomery County, Maryland in 2005. Currently, Preston is a Fire Captain with the Ventura City Fire Department and has over 15 years of firefighter service under his belt. Whilst nurturing his passion for brewing beer and building on the idea of opening a brewery, Preston’s research uncovered a serendipitous explanation for why firetrucks are traditionally painted red.

This story dates back to the 1800’s when early fire brigades were fighting for local superiority and reputation as being the best at what they did. Historians have stated that early firefighters wanted their equipment to be easy to spot amongst a lot of early vehicles that were painted black. They also wanted expensive accents like shiny brass, and gold leafing signifying their pride in what they did. There were rivalries in cities like New York and Baltimore, where fire companies would compete and be on opposite sides of civil unrest. This passion for superiority amongst local breweries and a commitment to be the best describes exactly the energy and passion behind our brand, Red Engine Brewing Company.

Red Engine Brewing Company’s Brewery and Taproom will provide a comfortable, friendly and modern environment with helpful staff that are professionally trained.
